There are many film festivals in this region, but it seems that genre film is always in the shadow of blockbusters and even the auteur film. The mission of Montifff is to put the spotlight on thrillers, horrors, science fiction and fairy tale films. ”In Los Angeles we see that this new festival trend is spreading across the world and I wanted for Montenegro to become the first country in the region that will have the opportunity to see the quality auteur genre” added Gala Goliani, young Hollywood director and Festival director.

”Festival screenings start on Friday, and the gala opening is set for Saturday 10th of October, at 19h at the Cultural center Tivat. After the opening, the audience will see the festival favorite – Austrian film Goodnight Mommy, a candidate for the 2016 Academy Award”, said the director of the Cultural center Tivat, Vojislav Kaluđerović. The Festival will be opened by Tivat Municipality president, Mr. Ivan Novosel.

Danilo Kalezić, PR manager of the company Adriatic Marinas – Porto Montenegro, said that a real treat will be the screenings of Das Boot (Submarine) which will be played during the whole day at the submarine Hero P-821: ”This is a unique opportunity to experience a true submarine film in a space where the action takes place.”

Jonathan English is a guest arriving from the United Kingdom and the director of Ironclad, which will also be shown at the Festival. The sequel to Ironclad was shot in Serbia, so Jonathan will have a lot to say about film production in the region.

The Festival celebrates a jubilee of the famous British director Iain Softley – 20 years from the movie Hackers and 10 years from the movie Skeleton Key. The audience will also have an exclusive opportunity to be the first in Europe to see two filmsQueen of Blood i Female Werewolf from the Canadian director Chris Alexander, editor of the famous film magazine Fangoria. Also, the Norwegian Myling will have its premiere in this part of the world.

Directors Branko Baletić and Milan Todorović will take part in a discussion about genre film in the region and will present their two features – Lokalni vampir i Mamula.

During three Festival days there will be 50 film screenings, 32 short films and 18 features from 14 countries (USA, Canada, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Denmark, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, Norway and Austria).

Reditelji Branko Baletić i Milan Todorović učestvovaće u diskusiji o žanrovskom filmu u regionu i predstaviće svoja dva ostvarenja- Lokalni vampir i Mamula.

Za tri dana Festivala biće prikazano 50 filmova, od toga 32 kratka i 18 dugometražnih iz 14 zemalja (US, Kanada, Grčka, Španija, Kipar, Srbija, Bosna, Crna Gora, Danska, Japan, Britanija, Njemačka, Norveška i  Austrija).
